Dateline 31st January 2007: Hobart, Tasmania
While Tony Bullimore continues to wait for the right weather conditions to start his record attempt to break the 70 day barrier for sailing solo around the world, he continues to keep up his morning training sessions in the gym and to fine tune his 102ft catamaran Doha 2006 in readiness for the challenge ahead. Last weekend he was also invited to launch the third Crown Series Regatta at the Bellerive Yacht Club, Tasmania. As Tony said when he launched the regatta, 'The idea of the original Crown Series Regatta came from Robin White, the Vice Commodore of the Bellerive Yacht Club, over a few Bundy rums with fellow club member, Stephen Keal. The first regatta exceeded all expectations with a tremendous entry that established it as the biggest sailing regatta in Tasmania. The second regatta was even bigger with close to 250 entries and over a 1000 yachties participating, and now the event promises to become one of the top events in the Australian yachting calendar.’ |
