After calling a halt to his latest solo circumnavigation attempt yesterday, British yachtsman Tony Bullimore is continues to head for New Zealand to repair rigging damage on his 102ft catamaran Doha.

Neither Bullimore nor his catamaran are in any danger. Doha is currently 1,000 miles miles SE of Wellington but facing headwinds, which are forcing the British yachtsman to tack into the wind, which will delay his arrival.

Lee Bruce, Team Bullimore's weather router has advised Tony: "Meaningful progress toward New Zealand will be tough, since the prevailing winds have a lot of west in them.  But periods of useful winds should occur from time to time. For the next few days, the wind will force a course that will be mostly northerly.  But a shift to modest southwest winds on Tuesday holds out hope for better conditions."

Meanwhile, Tony remains typically bullish about the future, planning a repair programme that will allow him to restart the Blue Ocean Wireless Round the World Challenge as soon as possible.
