Weather Forecast Day 3
Thursday, 03 May 2007

Tony's position was plotted as of the 03/06Z valid time of this map.  The display is the wind as measured by the QuikScat satellite-based sensor, which estimates wind based on the roughness of the ocean surface.  This map shows the light wind that Tony fell into when he had to slow down and sail deeper, due to his staysail trouble.  Hopefully, Tony will have things sorted before the next surge of wind arrives.  That higher wind is shown by the yellow and orange shading to his west.

By 03/18Z, the wind should be 350-360T (from the north) at 25-30kt, and still increasing.

By 04/00Z, the wind should be 360-010T/30+kt, with gusts to 45kt.

By 04/06Z (approaching the south side of Campbell Island), Tony may be dealing with a north wind at 35-40kt, gust 50kt.  Waves to 5-6m.

Tony's wind should remain from the NNW to N (and occasionally NNE) - and well above 25kt - through the 5th.
