Weather Forecast Day 2
Wednesday, 02 May 2007

Wind still expected to become northerly after 02/12Z, but at 30-35kt gust 45kt--sometimes higher.  Add in some squalliness to that as well.

Wind field east of Campbell Island is expected to have fairly uniform speed from 51S-55S, so leaving Campbell Island to port will not change the post-Campbell wind field much--compared to passing between Auckland Islands and Campbell.  And I'm concerned about the shoaling present between Campbell and Auckland Islands, as the north wind increases over a long fetch and then moves over the shoaling.  So it seems that leaving Campbell to port would be the better option (aiming for about 53S-53.5S, and 169E).  Your choice, of course.

Longer range outlook holds plenty of wind and a good angle to work with through the 5th (on or aft of the beam).
